Over the whole time of us humans being on Earth we have caused some serious damage to our home. We have had wars, destruction, habitat loss for other animals, deforestation, and even animals go extinct.. And if your thinking I’m a tree hugger I’m not, I just a normal human that cares about the world we live in and I for one has noticed the impact humans as made apon planet Earth. In the past few years the temperatures have gone up, more hurricanes have been occurring, more rain, and etc. In an article on National Geographic, James Watson quote says, “An area of 4.5 million kilometres or about ⅔ of Australia , has been converted to human-dominated land use in the past 2 decades alone.” Another quote by James Watson says, “Using the latest update of the global footprint, we discovered that while 75% of the world has a clear gold footprint, more than 50% of the world’s land area has been significantly converted to human dominated land uses.”All this is because of climate change caused my you and I.

In the early 1950’s scientists has discovered how much CO2 was getting into our atmosphere and how it was constantly rising. In 1965 it was first addressed to the president’s council about this issue but since then it’s always been a debate about whether climate change is a real thing and since our current president doesn’t believe in it still even though weather has gotten so bad it’s very clear the debate is still going. But the cause for these issues is us. The CO2 that we put into the air causing the temperature to rise significantly which causes the terrible catastrophic storms and etc. By 1989 the carbon emissions reached 6 billion tonnes per year and guess who is the cause of it. With the carbon being released into the atmosphere  it becomes trapped causing the buildup of heat. Also with the deforestation of the trees that we need there not enough trees to suck in all the CO2 that we put out. Some examples of CO2 that we put out is driving cars, heating homes, running factories, and transforming forests in towns.

Furthermore, with all those examples and plenty more out there we have to acknowledge that were hurting our planet. The place we live will be no more if we continue to not take the steps to decrease our CO2 output. In an article by Illisa Ocko who is a climate scientist she list 9 ways we know humans triggered climate change. She lists that 1. It’s simple chemistry, when we burn carbon based materials that reacts to emit carbon dioxide, 2. Basic accounting of what we burn determines how much CO2 is in the air, 3. By measuring the CO2 that’s in the atmosphere and in the ice we can see how much we have put out over the thousands of years, 4. A chemical analysis can tell us the increase of CO2 is coming from the burning fossil fuels, 5. Basic physics shows us that the CO2 jus absorbs the heat, 6. Monitoring the climate conditions to find if the recent increase is correlated to the new emissions, 7. Ruling out the natural factors, 8. Employing computer models to experiments, and lastly 9. The consensus among scientists that the evidence they have is causing the climate change.

With the heat rising it turns into the conversion of, “What happens if the temperature of the CO2 continues to rise, and what will happen to our home we know as planet earth?” Once the temperature increases a lot more natural disasters will start to occur. The summer heat will go up and stay for about 1.5 months more, there will be 17% less freshwater, 7% more rainfall, the wheat production will go down 16%, corn production will go down 6%, soy production will go up 7%,  rice production will go up 6%, sea level will go up to 50 cm from 40 cm, and lastly the coral bleaching will go from 90-98% which is basically almost 100%. Now these may just seem like numbers but this will damage our daily lives significantly because this will affect the way we live our lives. Even though in California we barely get a change of weather, in other places around the world it will be worse for them like other states where they actually all 4 seasons so their winter might be worse than the previous year and their summers could be hotter and have more humidity. This relates to the second theses (The Monster always escapes) because as humans we don’t address this issue enough so were always forgetting about thus forth “persay” escaping it because we stand around always saying and complaining that the weather is getting worse and worse each year no matter what season were in yet were not doing enough to even acknowledge that climate change could be and is causing the many weathers issues. If you haven’t noticed the California fires have gotten worse over the past 10 years and the back to back hurricanes are destroying a lot. Then we have leaders who say all this is part of mother nature and that there’s no need to worry but then the effect is there is more and more damage to our homes and the earth.

In conclusion, this should tell you how much we monsters should stop ignoring how much CO2 is going into OUR atmosphere. The place where we raise our children and for future generations won’t be here anymore if the temperature of CO2 emissions just goes up 1 more degree. If it does it’s pretty over because then a lot of natural disasters will start to occur and by then we probably won’t be but we have no one to blame but ourselves because we have ignored it for so long but you know who hasn’t, Earth.

“Why Is Climate Changing Today?” The Water Cycle | UCAR Center for Science Education, scied.ucar.edu/shortcontent/why-climate-changing-today.

In this article it explains how climate changing is and adding humans are making an impact on the planet. The article also mentions about how the future could possibly be. The website also shows two graphs on how the increase of the temperature. It also mentions the causes of the CO2 emissions. I am using it in my report to mention the causes of the CO2 emissions and the possible effects on the future.

Watson, James. “Humans Are Taking over, and We’re Putting the World’s Ecosystems at Risk.” World Economic Forum, 16 Dec. 2016, http://www.weforum.org/agenda/2016/12/half-of-the-worlds-ecosystems-are-at-risk.

In this article James Watson describes land we have lost due to deforestation. He also tells us how half the earth has been taken over and dominated by humans causing a mess up in the ecosystems. Also, how Australia is clearing up a lot of land. I used this article to describe how much land has been taken from the ecosystems. The reliability of this source is that the author is a professor at the University of Queensland.

In this article, the author tells us how the Amazon has lost a lot of its land to deforestation, and how it is a catastrophic loss to the planet. The author also mentions how the world leaders to provide more policies to save the planet than ruin it. I use this article tell my readers how the Amazon has lost a lot of land and how the leaders should do more rather than argue over if climate change is actually real.

In this article National Geographic goes over habitat loss and how the leading nations of the world should helping the nations who are not as wealthy. The article also mentions how were losing the biodiversity due a lot of animals going extinct. I use this article to show argue how we need to stop taking up all the land because it causes us to lose a lot of oxygen and which means most of CO2 is stuck in the atmosphere.

“9 Ways We Know Humans Triggered Climate Change.” Environmental Defense Fund, http://www.edf.org/climate/9-ways-we-know-humans-triggered-climate-change.

In this article, it describes the reasons why climate change is happening. It’s a short article so there not much to really get to out of it but the main 9 reasons why climate change is happening to the world. I primarily use this article for the 9 reasons. The reliability is that she is a climate scientist.
