Kim Jong-un is the leader of North Korea and is seen as a monster through the eyes of many. Using Jeffrey Cohen’s monster theories, we can see that Kim Jong-un follows thesis one “The Monster’s Body Is a Cultural Body”. Kim Jong-un very much so represents the stark difference between the United States government and North Korea’s government. The United States economy is geared towards capitalism as for North Korea, it’s government is a dictatorship who is culture and practices are vastly different. Thesis six “Fear of The Monster Is Really a Kind of Desire” also applies to Kim Jong-un because without Kim Jong-un‘s personality and method of leadership there would not be a desire for David Skylark to want to interview him in the first place.
